For a 2nd year Amanda Riggan and the Hungry Heroes team hosted an event for first responders and the community honoring fallen Detective Mike Doty. The fundraiser was held January 25th, 2020 at the American Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill, SC. The first part of the day, first responders we’re feed and later the general public was invited to enjoy bbq plates for sale, silent auction, bouncy houses, fire pits, emergency vehicles, corn hole tournament and more!
Hungry Heroes – has been able to serve over 1000 heroes throughout York County and surrounding areas since it was founded in April 2018. Feeding 1st responders is our way to show our appreciation to Police, Fire, EMS, and Military. Serving BBQ with a “Thank You.”
The 809 Foundation exists to further the legacy of Detective Micheal R. Doty – killed in the line of duty – by providing assistance in: substance abuse prevention and treatment; youth mentoring; and community unity. 809 was the radio call number of Detective Micheal Doty, but in some law enforcement agencies it is also the radio code for a missing person.
